چکیده
When measuring plant functional traits across geomorphologies, 5–10 healthy individuals of a species are commonly sampled. However, whether more should be sampled in habitat-heterogeneous karst vegetation remains unknown. In this study, two dominant tree ( Clausena dunniana and Platycarya strobilacea ) evergreen broadleaved mixed forests Southwestern China were selected. On the basis large quantity grown different peak clumps slope positions, variations 10 morphological statistically analyzed. The suggested sampling number individuals, which could mostly represent common trait characteristics, was further explored. All showed significant differences between p < 0.05). P. displayed larger intraspecific than those C. , except for twig dry matter content. bark thickness (BT), leaf area (LA), specific (SLA) BT, SLA, LA, tissue density, density presented variations. Most exhibited and/or among positions Random analysis indicated that numbers 6–23 9–29 . accepted sample size normal geomorphologies is not sufficiently most cases. Larger sizes recommended traits, such as with Therefore, under sufficient labor, material, time, when vegetation.

متن کاملLeaf trait variations associated with habitat affinity of tropical karst tree species
Karst hills, that is, jagged topography created by dissolution of limestone and other soluble rocks, are distributed extensively in tropical forest regions, including southern parts of China. They are characterized by a sharp mosaic of water and nutrient availability, from exposed hilltops with poor soil development to valleys with occasional flooding, to which trees show species-specific distr...
متن کاملWhat size parapneumonic effusions should be sampled?
The indications for operative intervention in parapneumonic effusions (PPEs) are currently based on their anatomical, bacterio-logical and biochemical features. Because PPEs ,10 mm in thickness on the lateral decubitus radiograph usually resolve with antibiotics, both the British Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians guidelines suggest that only PPEs with pleural fluid t...
متن کاملWhen is cough functional, and how should it be treated?
KEY POINTS Habit cough is most commonly characterised by a repetitive loud barking cough that persists for prolonged periods. The cough interferes with normal activity and substantially decreases the quality of life. The sine qua non is the total absence of this troublesome cough once asleep. The age distribution ranges from 4 years to late adolescence, with 85% of cases occurring from 8 to 14 yea...
